Khurasan Miniatures is a fairly new american company specialising in high quality ranges that are not very well covered by other manufacturers. The companys website at http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com has pictures of several of the ranges although some pictures are still missing. The company accepts payment through Paypal which is quite convenient.
Khurasan miniatures makes a point of developing very well researched ranges and the Sarmatians are not an exception. The range is divided into your average sarmatians, Alans in scythian caps and a handful of Bosporan infantry.
I bought two DBA army packs to get a variety of figures to build up a couple of units worth. The lions share of the packs were lancer cavalry with a couple of bases of light foot archers and light horse archers. The first impression was that the figures were extremely well cast, only the slightest bit of cleanup to get the bases flat was required and a full four-base unit of twelve figures took just a couple of minutes to prepare. Second impression was the extremely high quality of the sculpting, the detail on these figures is absolutely amazing! The faces in particular are some of the greatest I’ve seen in this scale.
With regards to size the Khurasan figures are “true” 15mm, and would likely fit well with manufacturers such as Essex.
